It only takes a moment
And everything can change
A photograph, a memory
Of a smile is all that remains.
A life snuffed out
Like a candle’s flickering flame
It only takes a minute
For death to strike its claim.
A fast hello and a quick goodbye
May be all that you have left
In a moments notice
Before time completes its theft.
A simple choice— a wrong one made
In an instant life is changed.
A mistake— a tragedy
And then memories start to fade.
We don’t like to admit it
We strive not to dwell
On how a moment quickly comes
And brings us to our hell.
A simple snap decision
Made in haste, made in jest
Can lead us down a darkened path;
Can take away our very breath.
But it also only takes a moment
To utter a desperate cry
To Lord of heaven and of earth
And He offers us a loving reply.
The thief on the cross
The beggar in the street
It only took a moment
For the Savior them to meet.
So choose your moment quickly now
You must doddle or delay
The Master offers peace and hope
Grace, forgiveness, strength for every day.
Before an instant comes
Or a moment causes you to fall
Trust in our Savior, Jesus Christ
It only takes a moment
For Him to change it all.
